Adventurous Tours: Sightseeing in CancunBy David Robertshaw Sightseeing is a fun thing to do during any vacation, and Cancun has some of the best tours and locations available. Mexico is a country full of history, so while you are on your Cancun vacation, consider booking a few tours to places that are nearby your hotel. You won't regret seeing some of these beautiful and historical places and it can make the trip education for kids as well as for adults.
Isla Mujeres is a quick twenty-minute ferry ride (which can itself be enjoyable)

from Cancun, and this beautiful island is rich in history and folklore. The streets here are brick and the houses are historical and of Caribbean-style clapboard. You can explore the island all day or just for a few hours, and the snorkeling here is excellent. Diving is another activity that can be done on this tour.
Cancun is also home to a number of ruins. El Rey can be accessed quite easily from the hotel zone, as it is an ancient paradise in the middle of the hotel zone. This is a small ruins site, but fun to visit for a few hours before you head out to the city for dinner or nightlife. El Rey is the home of hundreds of iguanas, so this site is fun for children. If you'd like to see larger ruins, visit Chichen Itza or Tulum, where you can find huge Mayan pyramids and ancient ruins of Mayan temples and other buildings. If you plan to visit these ruins, however, make sure to allow an entire day for the trip, as there is much to learn and explore about the area.
From the hotel zone, bud tours also takes you into downtown Cancun, which has some of the best shopping in the area. Here, there are not only malls featuring many American stores, but there are also markets. At markets you can find a number of Mexicans selling traditional hand-made items like jewelry, blanks, hats, and toys. Haggling for better prices is expected and can be a lot of fun. Prices here are usually much more reasonable than they are in the hotel zone, so do your shopping downtown.
There is more to do in Cancun than simply lying on the beach and eating at Mexican restaurants. All-inclusive hotels usually provide tour options, or you and your fellow travelers can find tours on you own. A travel agent can help you book amazing things to do so that your vacation in Cancun will surely be one to remember.
